Paris Fashion Week – Alexander McQueen Favorites

18 months and 3 shows later, Sarah Burton continues to hold down the fort as creative director for Alexander McQueen along with continuing the “Sea Dream” of Paris Fashion Week. The fashion world looked to Burton to add a softer touch to McQueen’s harsh but dark beauty after his tragic death.

Logistically speaking this collection was no where close to ready-to-wear but for all those with wild marine fantasies, Burton made customs for you. Lace was present in almost every look, most notably, the full-head covering masks, turning models into mermaid-like figures. There were evening gowns covered entirely in pearls. Barnacle prints were present, along with black oily leather. Intricate fabric that resembled coral, fresh from the sea floor.

Burton received some of the most positive reviews of any collection during the entire week as opposed to DW’s review for rapper turned designer Kanye West.
